One point to keep in mind is that there are numerous opportunities available at top UK schools and you do not necessarily need to have experience of a particular instrument to benefit from the provision on offer in top UK private schools. We generally advise two types of parent in this regard.

Firstly, we often help parents who are looking for a school that can provide a very high level of expert tuition for a chosen instrument, be it trombone, trumpet, piano, guitar, drums or any other instrument you can think of. These students have often sat ABRSM assessments in their home countries and are looking for schools where the music teachers are who either are at a superior level themselves, can teach at a superior level or can bring in the expertise to teach at a superior level. There are music teachers in schools we recommend that can teach to ABRSM diploma and trace their musical lineage back to Beethoven! These teachers often have excellent musical networks and would be ideally placed to provide Conservatoire advice.

Secondly, we help a good proportion of our parents in finding schools that have a wonderful all-round music provision to provide the opportunity for their child to explore various musical interests and perhaps settle on one they have an interest in or talent for. In such cases, it is good to consider schools that have good all-round facilities, excellent stock of instruments and active performing opportunities (such as an orchestra).

Shortlisting a top British boarding school based on musical resource or heritage is becoming increasingly common and we are well placed to advise on schools that have extensive instruments, 1 on 1 tuition rooms and music lessons as a permanent fixture in the school timetable. One school we work with has 21 Steinway pianos in school, including one in each boarding house - a real gem for those who are keen pianists.

If you are considering UK education but unsure how music lessons and provision may fit in, allow us to share our knowledge and experience we have with helping over 400 other families choose the best school for them. We can talk you through a suggested list of independent schools in the UK that match your requirements and we are confident you will be pleased with the results.

Finding the right private schools in the UK is a very important task and one that will shape your child’s future. We do not underestimate the importance of this decision and are confident that we can find the perfect UK boarding school for you and your child, based on your exact needs.
